About Stone Crabs
About 50 percent of the annual stone crab harvest comes from the commercial fishermen of the Florida Keys
Stone crabs are considered a renewable resource because after removing a legal claw, the crabs are returned to the water and grow new claws three to four times in their lifetime, according to Gary Graves, owner of Keys Fisheries in Marathon.
